A candle timer counts down the time left in the current candlestick on your chart. Traders who enter or exit on candle closes use it so they are not guessing from a chart's small clock, and so they can look away from the screen until the close approaches.
Because intraday candles are anchored to the session open, which on NSE and BSE is 09:15. Ten-minute candles therefore fall on 09:15, 09:25, 09:35 and so on, landing on 10:25. A generic timer anchored to midnight shows 10:20 and disagrees with your chart. This site anchors to the session and lets you change the anchor for other markets.
No. The time comes from this site's server, corrected for network latency, so a phone or PC clock that is out by a minute does not shift the countdown. If the server cannot be reached the page falls back to the device clock and the IST badge turns amber to tell you.
No. Weekends are handled, but exchange holidays are not, because that list changes every year and no web page can know it without a data feed. On a holiday the session countdown will count towards an open that does not happen.
Yes. Presets cover NSE/BSE 09:15, MCX 09:00 and crypto at 00:00 UTC, and you can enter any other session open and close yourself. The interval grid and the session countdown both follow whatever you choose.
Yes, with an optional warning beep before the close. Browsers block sound until you interact with the page, so tap or click once after opening it. You can choose the alert sound and volume, and add a pre-close warning from five to sixty seconds.
Yes. Open the interval menu and use the plus button to add any interval from one second to seven days. Custom intervals are saved in your browser and appear alongside the standard ones.
Yes. There is a fullscreen focus mode that shows only the countdown, a TV safe-area option for sets that crop the edges, and the layout fills any screen shape including a monitor rotated to portrait. Arrow keys change interval from a TV remote.
